
Set in Poland in 1962, this film follows a young woman named Ida, on the verge of taking vows as a Catholic nun. Ida was orphaned as an infant during the German occupation of Poland during World War II and was raised in the Catholic faith. Prior to completing her novitiate as a nun, she meets her aunt, a former Communist state prosecutor and only surviving relative. Her aunt tells her a shocking family secret dating back to the terrible years of the Nazi occupation, that Ida’s birth parents were actually Jewish. The two women embark on a journey to uncover the mystery of their own past and learn the fate of their relatives. Based partially on a true story. With English subtitles.
